SIMON Medical officially opened its new manufacturing facility in Bayeux, Normandy, France, marking a milestone for the company in the service of the orthopedic medical device industry.
The purpose-built site more than doubles the company’s previous manufacturing footprint, providing over 33,000 square feet dedicated exclusively to the production of orthopedic surgical instruments and implants. The investment was driven by demand from OEM customers seeking additional manufacturing capacity, reliable second-source suppliers and partners capable of supporting increasingly complex products.
Designed specifically for medical device manufacturing, the new facility integrates every major production step under one roof, including 5-axis CNC machining, EDM, finishing, laser marking, ultrasonic cleaning, passivation, assembly and final inspection.
The expansion also supports SIMON Medical’s ongoing investment in advanced manufacturing technologies. New high-performance 5-axis machining centers have recently been added to increase production capacity and enhance the company’s ability to manufacture complex orthopedic instruments with demanding geometries and tight tolerances.
“Building a new facility was not simply about adding square footage,” said Bruno Dufour, CEO of SIMON Medical. “Our objective was to create a manufacturing environment that allows us to support our customers’ long-term growth while maintaining the quality, flexibility and responsiveness they expect.”
In addition to increasing manufacturing capacity, the new facility reflects the company’s commitment to sustainable industrial development. Rooftop solar panels contribute to the site’s energy production, supporting a more environmentally responsible manufacturing operation.
