Medacta Extends MyImplant Platform to Complex Hip Recon

Medacta MyImplant Hip

Medacta expanded its MyImplant platform from shoulder applications to hip reconstruction, providing a custom-fit solution developed to support surgeons in managing complex cases, particularly when fixation may be challenging due to extensive bone loss.

The new hip solution is intended to address complex acetabular reconstruction, further enhancing the Medacta Hip Revision Platform.

Software, combined with patient CT scans, enables precise preoperative planning and surgical simulation, allowing surgeons to analyze the patient’s anatomy in detail and plan the procedure before entering the operating room. The resulting design is translated into a 3D-printed monobloc customized implant, manufactured as a single titanium component, combined with patient-matched instruments including bone models, trial implant, and drilling guides.

The implant is produced using 3D Metal, Medacta’s in-house additive manufacturing technology, engineered to replicate the natural porosity of bone, achieve intrinsic high friction, and provide a precise scratch-fit with the surrounding bone.
