Accentus Medical

The Acusure® range of surface coatings are designed to improve both biocompatibility and durability of orthopaedic and certain other implantable medical devices. The Acusure® range includes a series of thermal plasma sprayed Hydroxyapatite, Titanium and Cobalt Chrome metallic coatings (or combinations thereof) that have been in worldwide clinical usage for more than 20 years.

Agluna® is an innovative surface treatment technology applied during the manufacture of titanium implantable medical devices to assist in improving clinical outcomes by means of reducing the incidence and severity of near-term post-operative infection. Supported by a strong patent portfolio, the technology has been in clinical use since 2006 with an increasing range of custom and modular titanium limb salvage systems, as well as other clinical applications such as titanium cranioplasties.

Acusure Ag® is an innovative coating in which antimicrobial silver ions are incorporated by a proprietary chemical process into the Acusure® hydroxyapatite plasma spray coating.  The surface concentration of silver ions is carefully controlled so as to maintain the essential osseointegrating efficacy and marketing aesthetics of the hydroxyapatite coating, while also providing sufficient silver ions to provide a local antimicrobial effect in the vicinity of the clinical implant.

Accentus Medical has many years of in-house experience at establishing mechanical test data protocols for orthopaedic implants that are designed to meet regulatory requirements, either as part of a design process, or to satisfy customer demands.
