DePuy Synthes Acquires CUPTIMIZE Hip-Spine Analysis

Cuptimize Hip-Spine Analysis

DePuy Synthes acquired CUPTIMIZE™ Hip-Spine Analysis, a tool to help surgeons better understand and address the impact of abnormal motion between the spine and pelvis in some patients who require total hip arthroplasty (THA). CUPTIMIZE Hip-Spine Analysis is designed to enhance the surgical planning capabilities of the company’s VELYS™ Hip Navigation.

Unlike other technologies, CUPTIMIZE Hip-Spine Analysis does not rely on advanced imaging or engineering staff. Instead, a digital screening tool analyzes x-rays of the patient when standing and sitting to identify abnormal motion between the spine and pelvis.

VELYS Hip Navigation provides an integrated solution for pre-operative planning and intra-operative execution that provides actionable, real-time data to personalize hip replacement and is designed to improve precision, increase surgical reproducibility and optimize patient outcomes.

Sharrolyn Josse, Worldwide President, VELYS Digital Surgery & Capital, said, “This acquisition is one more advancement on our journey to becoming the most personalized and connected orthopaedics company.”
