Titanium Powder for Additive Manufacturing Shows Increased Strength

Recently released testing data indicates that Carpenter Technology’s CarTech Puris 5+ titanium powder exceeds the standard Ti 6Al-4V Grade 5 strength levels by nearly 18%, providing maximum reusability and high strength, the company says.

CarTech Puris 5+ titanium powder is a custom composition of Ti 6Al-4V Grade 5 that maintains high strength with lower oxygen content.

Carpenter is a global producer of powder metals and specialty wire for additive manufacturing. In March, Carpenter completed its acquisition of substantially all of the assets and business of Puris, a producer of titanium powder for additive manufacturing and advanced technology applications, for $35 million. The acquisition included Puris’ manufacturing assets, patents and related intellectual property.
