
Laser powder bed fusion (LPBF) enables the manufacturing of highly optimized metal parts and has been embraced by demanding industries like orthopedics for this ability. To bring LPBF beyond an introduction to fully qualified serial manufacturing, equipment and process architecture and proofing capability are vital. This white paper documents a thorough process capability study performed using 3D Systems’ LPBF technology, known as direct metal printing (DMP).
