Acnis to Distribute Evonik’s VESTAKEEP PEEK Biomaterials in France, Spain and Portugal

Evonik extended its agreement with Acnis International for distribution of polyetheretherketone (PEEK) biomaterials of VESTAKEEP® Implant and VESTAKEEP® Dental for medical implants and dental applications in France, Spain and Portugal. This expands on a previous agreement whereby Acnis markets VESTAKEEP Implant biomaterials in South America.

Acnis will be the only distributor of VESTAKEEP Implant and VESTAKEEP Dental high-performance polymers for medical applications in these regions. The agreement includes all formats, from granules over filaments to stock shapes (rods and plates).

Acnis has established a new warehouse for VESTAKEEP medical products at its site in Lyon, France, to give customers even shorter delivery times.

Recently, Evonik developed a new osteoconductive PEEK for the medical technology market that is designed to improve fusion between bone and implant. The company is launching a new line of next-generation, PEEK-based implant materials that it will market under the brand name VESTAKEEP® Fusion.

Evonik is the first company in the world to launch a 3D-printable PEEK filament as an implant-grade material for medical applications.

“The distribution agreement with Acnis perfectly fits to our leading market growth position today and tomorrow,” said Marc Knebel, Head of the Medical Systems market segment at Evonik. “With our VESTAKEEP® Fusion osteoconductive PEEK as well our 3D printable PEEK biomaterial we keep developing new medical grade materials which now can by introduced to the respective markets.”
