Orthopedics’ mid-tier of companies includes 11 device players with revenue between $200 million and $500 million. In 2019, these companies combined to grow 5.8% year over year.
These companies are diversified across orthopedics but collectively derive the bulk of their revenue from joint replacement. ConMed (sports medicine), Orthofix (spine and trauma), Acumed (trauma) and RTI Surgical (spine) are the four outliers. Due to their predominant focus on one market, the majority of the mid-tier companies hold a top 10 spot in at least one market segment.
Another 18 companies fall in the $100 million to $200 million range, while thousands of orthopedic device companies generate revenue below $100 million.
