
FMI Instrumed is installing a fifth 3D metals printer at its Netherlands manufacturing plant.
The increasing contribution of additive manufacturing in the medical device industry endorses further strategic developments, the company said in a press release.
FMI Instrumed is a specialized contract manufacturer of surgical implants and instruments. In addition to traditional machining, passivation, anodization, laser marking, cleaning and packaging, FMI Instrumed also offers additive manufacturing of titanium implants, with a unique focus on serial manufacturing of orthopedic and spinal implants. This validated AM process is fully integrated with automated CNC post-processing to increase quality and reduce cost and lead time.
