Arcam, a supplier of additive manufacturing technology and part of GE Additive, will expand its electron beam melting (EBM) business into a refurbished 40,000-square-foot facility in Härryda, Sweden. The space will be operational in 1Q19.
The facility is three times the size of the company’s current space and will offer Arcam the ability to grow its EBM component.
In 2016, Arcam was part of GE Additive’s U.S. $1.4BB investment in additive technology, materials and services worldwide. Arcam then took numerous strategic steps to expand in 2017, including:
- Spin-out of Arcam EBM as a dedicated unit
- Launch of a new branding identify to unify Arcam EBM, AP&C and DiSanto Technology
- Partnerships with Stryker and Oerlikon
- A new powder facility to AP&C in Quebec
