DSM Introduces Dyneema Purity Black Fiber

DSM Biomedical introduced Dyneema Purity® Black fiber, the first and only black ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) medical fiber and the latest addition to DSM’s Dyneema Purity UHMWPE portfolio used in a variety of devices, such as surgical sutures and cables of SGX (white), VG (blue) and RP (radiopaque yellow) fibers.

Like SGX 110 and VG 110, Dyneema Purity Black fiber was developed for use in sports medicine applications such as orthopedic sutures. The addition of the black fiber allows for the manufacturing of more complex sutures incorporating several different fiber colors. The black color strongly contrasts against surrounding tissues, providing better visibility in complex surgeries.
