Zwick USA will debut its LTM product line for fatigue testing of orthopaedic implants and devices at the 2017 Orthopaedic Research Society Annual Meeting in March.
The electro-dynamic testing machines offer a range of operating speeds, enabling dynamic testing and slow static testing in one platform. Each system incorporates a long piston stroke of 60 mm (2.36 in), which supports a wide range of applications. Tests on specimens ranging from spinal implants and disc prostheses to dental implants and bone screws can be performed on a single machine.
Commercialization of Zwick’s LTM 5 and LTM 10 arose from direct customer feedback. Orthopaedic device research professionals and manufacturers conveyed specific requirements for an oil-free, low-maintenance dynamic testing system. Zwick product engineers designed a novel linear drive technology intended to optimize performance of the motor components and deliver enhanced control.
LTM testing machines from Zwick run testXpert® R software for dynamic tests and testXpert III for static tests. Both software packages are intuitive and may be customized to suit specific testing requirements.
