Orchid Orthopedic Solutions acquired Alhenia, a Switzerland-based provider of coated implants to orthopaedic device manufacturers. The combination brings new and novel coating technologies and an expanded geographic reach/customer base, and creates an integrated local supply chain in the EU, from castings/forgings to fully finished, coated and packaged implants.
Alhenia’s coating portfolio addresses PEEK and polyethylene, ceramic, cold spray, titanium on metal and ceramic substrates and anti-bacterial coatings. Alhenia also offers machining and finishing capabilities. Alhenia employs ~60 people.
Orchid’s recent strategic activities include a new facility in Pune, India and expanded manufacturing in Tennessee.
